The renowned Paddal Ground in Mandi is poised to transform into a lively cultural center this October as the Society for Himachal Art and Culture, Knowledge and Heritage (SHAKH) hosts a 10-day SHAKH Festival along with an International Film Festival from October 1 to 10.

This festival aims to showcase the artistic and cultural talents of Himachal Pradesh, bringing together both emerging and established artists. Organizers emphasize that the event will spotlight those talented individuals who often remain unnoticed and lack opportunities to perform at significant cultural gatherings.

A highlight of the festival will be a three-day International Film Festival, featuring films that convey cultural, social, and humanistic messages. These screenings will be accessible to the public at no charge, allowing both film lovers and the general audience to engage with impactful cinema.

Additionally, the festival will host four cultural evenings that celebrate the rich diversity of Himachali and Indian performing arts. Attendees can expect performances that include Himachali folk traditions, light classical music, popular Hindi and film songs, dance, drama, bodybuilding, and stand-up comedy.

A unique feature of the festival will be a ramp-walk competition for couples over the age of 50, designed to provide an entertaining platform for senior participants. Couples interested in participating will need to fill out an application form provided by the organizers.

A family-friendly fair will also take place at Paddal, featuring stalls and entertainment options for both children and adults, including rides, making it an inclusive event for all age groups.

Auditions Scheduled from September 11 to 13

To select performers for the cultural evenings, SHAKH will hold auditions for singing, dancing, and stand-up comedy from September 11 to 13.

These auditions will occur from 11 am to 5 pm at Hotel Comfort, located near Skodi Chowk on Hospital Road, Mandi. Separate opportunities will be available for junior participants aged 18 and under, as well as senior participants in singing and dancing.

Participation in the auditions is free, and the organizers have stated that the jury's decisions during the selection process will be final.

This festival is being promoted as a means to connect artists with the community while honoring Himachal's cultural heritage and providing a larger platform for emerging talent.
