Shafali Verma Re-enters Top 10 in ICC Women’s T20I Rankings

Shafali Verma's Impressive Comeback


Dubai, July 15: India’s opening batter Shafali Verma has made a notable return to the top 10 of the ICC Women’s T20I Player Rankings, as announced on Tuesday.


In the recently concluded five-match T20I series, Shafali scored a total of 176 runs at an impressive strike rate of 158.56, finishing as the second-highest run-scorer, just behind her teammate Smriti Mandhana.


The 21-year-old showcased her talent by scoring 75 runs off 41 balls in a thrilling last-ball loss, which propelled her four positions up to ninth place with 655 points.


Smriti Mandhana, who remains the highest-ranked Indian player in T20Is, holds the third position after accumulating 221 runs over five innings, leading the team to a historic 3-2 series victory under captain Harmanpreet Kaur.


Jemimah Rodrigues fell two spots to 14th place, having scored 108 runs in the series, which included a half-century. Meanwhile, captain Harmanpreet Kaur, with 65 runs in four matches, retained her 15th position.


Arundhati Reddy, another key player in India’s series triumph, took six wickets throughout the series. She climbed four spots to 39th in the bowling rankings and jumped 26 places to 80th among all-rounders after taking two wickets in the final T20I.


Several England players also saw improvements in their rankings. Spinner Charlie Dean entered the top 10 for bowlers after a standout performance of 3-23 in the last match, moving up eight spots to tie for sixth with Nashra Sandhu and Georgia Wareham.


Linsey Smith advanced nine places to 38th, while pacer Issy Wong rose seven spots to 50th. Emily Arlott, who debuted for England this summer against the West Indies, improved by 15 positions to 67th.


Sophia Dunkley, England’s leading scorer with 151 runs, gained seven points to reach 19th in the Batting Rankings, thanks to crucial contributions of 22 and 46 in the last two matches.


Opener Tammy Beaumont also continued her upward trend, jumping 19 places to 45th.
