Shafali Verma Makes T20I History

On Saturday, Shafali Verma, the prominent Indian opener, etched her name in the record books by becoming the youngest and fastest player globally to achieve 3,000 runs in Women's T20 Internationals. The talented right-handed batter from Haryana required just 7 runs during India's Women’s Asia Cup 2026 Group A match against Pakistan in Dubai, and she swiftly accomplished this feat by scoring those runs off the first two balls of India's innings.

Fastest to the Milestone

Verma reached this remarkable milestone in just 2,182 balls faced, making her the quickest player to do so. Previously, the record was held by Australia's Alyssa Healy, who retired from international cricket earlier this year. Healy had set the record at the age of 22 years and 220 days.

Joins Elite Indian Company

Since her debut in Women's T20Is for India in 2019, Shafali has now joined the ranks of Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana as the only Indian women to surpass the 3,000-run mark in this format.

India Dominates Pakistan in Asia Cup Clash

In the match itself, the Indian women's team showcased their strength by defeating Pakistan by seven wickets at the Dubai International Stadium. After restricting Pakistan to a mere 55 runs, India successfully chased down the target in just 8.4 overs, with captain Harmanpreet Kaur (18) and Deepti Sharma (12) remaining not out.

This victory marked a flawless group-stage performance for India, who won all three of their matches against Thailand, Hong Kong, and Pakistan, earning a total of six points.

Conversely, Pakistan's upcoming match against Hong Kong will be crucial, as they need a win to secure a spot in the final four.
