Severe weather conditions in Andhra Pradesh have led to the tragic deaths of four individuals due to electrocution and accidents caused by falling trees. Amaravati, May 29: Four individuals lost their lives in various incidents caused by heavy rains and strong winds that struck parts of Andhra Pradesh late Thursday night.

In Krishna district's Kummarapalem, two young men tragically died when a tree fell on their motorcycle. The victims were identified as Manohar and Shivarama Krishna.

Additionally, a Home Guard and a student were electrocuted in separate incidents. The student, Anitha, who was pursuing her Intermediate studies, was electrocuted while fetching water in Lankapalli village, Pamidimukkala mandal, when she came into contact with a downed electric wire caused by the storm.

In Vijayawada, a Home Guard was also killed when an electric wire fell on him.

The severe weather uprooted trees and electricity poles, leading to the collapse of hoardings in several areas. Traffic was disrupted as fallen trees blocked roads.

Machilipatnam in Krishna district experienced heavy rainfall, which flooded roads and hindered vehicular movement.

In East Godavari district, lightning struck the Rythu Seva Kendr, igniting empty bags stored for farmers. Firefighters quickly arrived to extinguish the flames.

Power outages were reported in several districts, including Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam, Bapatla, Planadu, East Godavari, West Godavari, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema, and Kadapa.

Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar acknowledged the disruptions in electricity supply due to the adverse weather conditions and instructed officials to restore power by Friday afternoon. He noted that restoration efforts were hampered by ongoing rains and winds.

Officials informed the minister that power had been restored in most areas of the two Godavari districts. He urged residents to exercise caution to prevent electrocution incidents.

The minister expressed condolences over the Home Guard's death and promised support for the victim's family.

Meanwhile, the State Disaster Management Authority warned of scattered rains and lightning in East Godavari, Kakinada, Guntur, Bapatla, and Tirupati. Managing Director Prakhar Jain advised the public to stay vigilant and avoid standing under trees, utility poles, or hoardings due to expected gusty winds of 40–50 km/h.
