The storm, categorized as a 'particularly dangerous situation' (PDS), was detected at 3:47 PM CDT, approximately 9 miles northwest of Freeport, and was moving eastward at a speed of 25 mph.

The tornado warning is in effect until 4:15 PM CDT for northeastern Jo Daviess County and Stephenson County. Weather spotters have confirmed the tornado's presence, and officials have warned of a significant threat to life and property. The alert emphasized, 'This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. TAKE COVER NOW!'

Authorities highlighted the gravity of the situation, indicating that residents are facing a 'life-threatening situation' due to the risk of deadly debris. The National Weather Service has detailed the anticipated impacts, predicting that mobile homes could be destroyed and significant damage to homes, businesses, and vehicles is likely. Complete destruction in some areas is also a possibility.
