Impact of Heavy Rainfall in Rajasthan

Rajasthan is currently grappling with severe flooding due to heavy rainfall, which has disrupted daily life, damaged infrastructure, and severed connectivity in various regions. Tragically, two women have lost their lives in incidents related to the rain, prompting the evacuation of hundreds of residents to safer locations. The meteorological department has forecasted additional rainfall, especially in the eastern parts of the state.

Eight districts are experiencing flood-like conditions, with Kota, Sawai Madhopur, Tonk, and Bundi being the most affected. Notably, Bundi's Nainwa area recorded the highest rainfall in the state on Saturday, accumulating 502 mm within a 24-hour period.

In light of the escalating crisis, the Army has been deployed alongside the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to conduct rescue and relief operations. The Air Force is also on standby, with one Mi-17 helicopter already in the air to provide assistance.

Sawai Madhopur and Bundi are among the hardest-hit areas. In Bundi, a 50-year-old woman was swept away by floodwaters, while a 65-year-old woman tragically died when a tin shed wall collapsed on her at a farm.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Sunday, advising residents to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has reviewed the ongoing relief and rescue efforts, instructing officials to conduct a detailed survey of the damage to crops and homes.

Lok Sabha Speaker and Kota-Bundi MP Om Birla has visited the flood-affected areas and has called for measures to rehabilitate those impacted by the disaster.
