Authorities have placed 14 districts on high alert, with Sivasagar being the hardest hit, where over 57,000 people have been displaced. Following Sivasagar, Golaghat (34,000 displaced) and Jorhat (25,000 displaced) are also facing alarming conditions. Many areas in the capital city, Guwahati, are experiencing significant waterlogging. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted further heavy rainfall in catchment areas, raising concerns about worsening conditions.

Key Updates on Assam Floods

Rescue Operations and Relief Camps: The state has intensified rescue efforts, establishing 45 relief camps to shelter over 12,300 affected individuals.

Distribution of Relief Supplies: Authorities have set up 59 relief distribution centers, providing essential items such as rice, lentils, salt, and fodder to more than 32,000 people.

Additionally, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in certain areas of Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. According to the weather department, moderate to heavy rainfall may also occur during the day in parts of Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Mahe, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, and Uttar Pradesh. The IMD has also predicted stormy conditions in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, with similar weather expected in Andhra Pradesh, coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, and northern interior Karnataka.
