Seventh Assam State Finance Commission Reviews Development in Morigaon
Commission's Visit to Morigaon District
Morigaon, Aug 13: The Seventh Assam State Finance Commission, under the leadership of chairman Lt Gen (Retd) Rana Pratap Kalita, along with special secretary Hemant Kumar Deuri, director Motilal Sarkar, advisor Bodhindra Lahkar, and section officer Uttam Hazarika, conducted a review program in Morigaon district on Monday.
A review meeting took place at the conference hall of the Integrated Tribal Development Project (ITDP) office in Morigaon. This meeting saw participation from representatives of all panchayats in the district, alongside district commissioner Anamika Tewari, Morigaon Zila Parishad's chief executive officer Ananta Kumar Gogoi, and chairperson Pranati Deka Kalita.
During the discussions, various challenges were highlighted, focusing on infrastructure development, including road projects, rural electrification, agricultural advancements, and small-scale industry growth. Other critical areas included enhancing healthcare and education services, ensuring access to clean drinking water, executing welfare programs, and the significance of effective fund utilization.
The Finance Commission stressed the importance of strategic fund allocation for rural development, advocating for efficient resource use and improved financial management skills among panchayats.
Following the review meeting, the Commission convened with the Morigaon Municipal Board, where executive officer Manas Pratim Baruah provided a detailed update on the ongoing development initiatives in Morigaon town.
