Arrests Made Following Cattle Skull Discovery

In Assam's Lakhimpur district, seven individuals have been taken into custody after three cattle skulls were discovered near a prayer hall, as reported by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday.

The individuals arrested include Monsur Ali (60), Mohammad Rejjak Ali (29), Saha Ali (48), Diluar Hussain (25), Dildar Hussain (30), Abu Kalam Ali (33), and Jahidul Islam (22).

According to the chief minister's social media update, a search at Monsur Ali's home led to the recovery of three more cattle skulls, which were subsequently seized.

Authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the matter, including a technical analysis, as stated by Sarma.

This incident follows a recent wave of arrests, where over 60 individuals were detained in connection with communal unrest in Dhubri town, which began on June 8.

The unrest was triggered by the discovery of animal remains near a Hindu temple, which Sarma claimed included parts of a cow's head.

On June 13, the state government implemented nighttime shoot-at-sight orders in Dhubri to restore order, following further violence sparked by another severed animal head found near the temple.

Those arrested in the Dhubri case are facing non-bailable charges.

Additionally, on June 15, the chief minister announced that five individuals were arrested for allegedly throwing beef near a temple in Goalpara.
