He was reportedly ensnared in a 'honey trap' by a woman who contacted him via social media, leading to video calls. The woman allegedly requested sensitive information, including military activities and troop deployments, along with images and videos. It is claimed that the wing commander transmitted sensitive documents and data to her through digital means. The officer was arrested on the night of May 31, following specific information provided to the Delhi Police by the IAF's intelligence wing.

How the Officer Was Targeted

Reports suggest that the officer was going through a challenging phase in his personal life when he was approached by the woman on social media. They began chatting and video calling, during which she gained his trust and solicited information about military unit activities and deployments. Investigators have discovered that he allegedly sent her important documents and data through digital communication channels.

Installation of Suspicious App

Subsequently, the woman reportedly instructed him to install a specific app on his colleague's phone. Sources indicate that this app functions similarly to targeted spyware or remote-access malware, designed to steal data, track locations, or intercept conversations. The police are investigating the extent of sensitive information shared by the accused wing commander.

Investigating Pakistan-Based Handlers

Police sources have revealed that the wing commander installed a suspicious app on a fellow officer's mobile phone, which could have been used for data theft and location tracking. It has come to light that the woman who contacted him was allegedly acting on behalf of handlers based in Pakistan. Authorities are currently examining the digital records of conversations between the accused and the woman.

IAF's Response
