Serious Aircraft Incident at LaGuardia Airport Amid Bad Weather

New Delhi. A significant aircraft incident occurred on Monday at New York's LaGuardia Airport. An Air Canada jet collided with a fire truck that was stationary on the runway while approaching the gate amidst adverse weather conditions.

According to flight tracking data and local reports, the aircraft involved was an 'Air Canada Express CRJ-900' that had just arrived from Montreal. The impact was severe, resulting in injuries to four firefighters, who are reported to be in critical condition.

At the time of the incident, the plane was carrying nearly 100 passengers. Emergency response teams quickly arrived at the scene to initiate rescue operations. Images and videos shared on social media show significant damage to the front section and nose of the aircraft.

In a related incident, gunfire was reported at the U.S. Embassy in Canada, prompting security agencies to launch an investigation.

LaGuardia Airport has been completely shut down due to the crash. As one of the busiest airports, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a 'ground stop' for all flights at LaGuardia. Initially, flights were halted until 05:30 GMT, but given the seriousness of the situation, this could extend until 18:00 GMT. Airport authorities and security agencies are currently focused on clearing debris from the runway and conducting an investigation.

Preliminary reports suggest that poor weather and low visibility may have contributed to the accident. However, it remains unconfirmed why the fire truck was on the runway. Regulators have stated that an investigation is underway, and security standards will be reviewed.
