Tragic Incident in Aurangabad

Aurangabad, August 2 - A senior official from the municipal corporation was allegedly murdered by his driver using an iron rod while traveling from Dehri to Patna. This information was disclosed by the police on Sunday. The incident took place on Saturday evening near the Dhanouti bridge in the Barun police jurisdiction.

The deceased has been identified as Vimal Kumar, the Executive Officer (EO) of the Dehri-Dalmianganj municipal council. Initially, the driver claimed that unidentified motorcycle riders had attacked them. However, Vikas Vaibhav, the Inspector General of Police for the Magadh region, informed reporters on Sunday that the EO was en route to Patna when the police received information from the driver about the assault.

The official succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital. During the investigation, the driver's inconsistent statements raised suspicions. Upon rigorous questioning, he confessed to attacking the official with the iron rod.

According to Vaibhav, the driver revealed that he had been under significant stress due to excessive work pressure and frequently argued with the official.

He also disclosed that a heated argument had occurred between them earlier that day before their departure to Patna. The conflict escalated when the driver wanted to stop the vehicle for a restroom break, but the official refused to stop immediately. Following this altercation, the driver attacked the official with the iron rod after he exited the vehicle.

The accused further informed the police that he had disposed of the weapon used in the crime in a nearby canal. The police have since recovered the rod, and the investigation is ongoing. The deceased's wife, Babita Kumari, filed a complaint at the Barun police station on Sunday, naming the driver Mithilesh Kumar as the primary suspect.

The police have registered a case under Section 103(1) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Babita Kumari stated in her complaint that the driver had called her around 9:19 PM on Saturday to inform her of her husband's death. She also alleged that Mithilesh had previously mistreated her husband.

Earlier, Babita Kumari had accused a local representative of harassing her husband over the phone and attempting to extort money, expressing concerns that he might be involved in the murder.
