Senior JD(U) Leader KC Tyagi Resigns, Sparks Speculation on Political Future
KC Tyagi Resigns from JD(U)
On Tuesday, prominent leader KC Tyagi announced his resignation from the Janata Dal (United) or JD(U). This significant development occurred just a day after party president Nitish Kumar's victory in the Rajya Sabha elections, stirring discussions in political circles about Tyagi's next steps. Speculation is rife regarding whether he will join another party or establish his own.
Sources indicate that Tyagi is looking to become active in Uttar Pradesh's political landscape and is expected to join a new political party in the near future.
Commitment to Social Welfare
In a letter, the former MP mentioned that he did not renew his party membership following the conclusion of the latest membership drive. However, he emphasized that his dedication to the welfare of farmers, Dalits, and marginalized communities remains unchanged.
Reflecting on the party's origins, Tyagi recalled that the JD(U) was formed on October 30, 2003, following the merger of the Samata Party, led by George Fernandes, and the Janata Dal. He highlighted his long association with the party, having held several key organizational roles, including General Secretary, Chief Spokesperson, and Political Advisor, alongside leaders like Sharad Yadav and Nitish Kumar. Despite leaving the party, Tyagi expressed that his personal respect for Nitish Kumar, whom he referred to as a companion for nearly five decades, still stands.
Upcoming Meeting to Discuss Political Strategy
Tyagi also announced that he will convene a meeting on March 22 at Mavalankar Hall to discuss the current political situation in the country. This gathering will include like-minded individuals, supporters, and political allies. He stated that the strategy for future actions will be determined after discussions during this meeting.
