Intensive Search Operation in Poonch

On August 4, security forces initiated a large-scale search operation in the remote Surankote area of Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir, following reports of suspicious activities by terrorists. Officials confirmed that the operation was launched after receiving intelligence about potential terrorist movements.

The Jammu and Kashmir police's Special Operations Group (SOG) collaborated with personnel from the National Rifles to conduct a cordon and search operation in the areas of Dhara Sangla, Gujjar Nar, and Kherowali Dhok, as well as the surrounding forested villages.

This operation was prompted by reports of two separate groups of suspected terrorists moving through the densely forested region. As of now, no suspects have been located, and the search continues. Security personnel are systematically conducting the search to track down the suspects.

Discovery of Old Mortar Shell in Kathua

In a separate incident, an old, rusted mortar shell was discovered in the courtyard of a house near the international border in the Hiranagar sector of Kathua district on Tuesday morning. Officials reported that workers digging at Subhash Chandra's residence in Kattal-Brahmana village noticed a suspicious object and promptly alerted the authorities.

A police team, along with a bomb disposal squad, quickly arrived at the scene, secured the area, and safely removed and destroyed the mortar shell.
