Security Forces Conduct Anti-Terror Drill Ahead of Amarnath Yatra

Anti-Terrorism Exercise in Jammu and Kashmir

On August 7, security personnel and emergency services conducted an anti-terrorism drill on the Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch National Highway in Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir. This exercise was organized to enhance preparedness and response mechanisms ahead of the annual Shri Budha Amarnath Yatra, which begins on August 17.

Officials reported that the drill took place in the Naushera area of Bagnoti Rajal, simulating a terrorist attack scenario on the highway to evaluate the response capabilities of security forces and emergency teams.

During the exercise, a scenario was created where two mock terrorists launched an attack on the highway. Security personnel swiftly responded, neutralizing both attackers and securing the area. The joint exercise involved the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), fire and emergency services, and the health department.

Various agencies practiced coordinated actions such as rapid deployment, area security checks, evacuation of injured individuals, and emergency response. The aim of this drill was to improve coordination among different agencies and strengthen operational readiness to handle any potential terrorist incidents during the annual pilgrimage, which traverses the Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch route.

Security agencies are making extensive arrangements to ensure the safety of pilgrims and maintain smooth traffic along the travel route.
