Dibrugarh, June 24: On Monday, the security measures at the district commissioner's office faced scrutiny after two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle reportedly snatched two gold chains valued at around Rs 12 lakh from a visitor in broad daylight.

This incident has raised significant concerns regarding the safety protocols at the DC office complex, which is deemed a high-security area, monitored by police and equipped with CCTV surveillance.


Victim's Account

The victim, identified as Hrishikesh Goswami from Madarkhat in Lahowal, was at the DC office for personal matters. He described how, as he approached the staircase near the entrance, two youths wearing helmets on a motorcycle confronted him. They allegedly pushed him to the ground, allowing one of them to seize the gold chains from his neck before they both escaped.


Investigation Underway

Goswami reported the theft, which involved jewellery worth approximately Rs 12 lakh, to the Milan Nagar Police Outpost. Authorities have initiated an investigation and are currently reviewing the CCTV footage to gather more information.
