Savannah Guthrie Addresses Rumors Surrounding Mother's Vanishing

Following the mysterious disappearance of her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, from her home in Arizona nearly two months ago, Savannah Guthrie has spoken out against the rising online speculation regarding her family. In a heartfelt segment on the March 26 episode of Today, Savannah vehemently rejected allegations implicating her sister Annie Guthrie, brother-in-law Tommaso Cioni, and brother Camron Guthrie in their mother’s case. She expressed her anguish, stating, “It’s unbearable and it piles pain upon pain. There are no words. I don’t understand, I’ll never understand.” Savannah emphasized the care her family provided, asserting, “No one took better care of my mom than my sister and brother-in-law. No one protected my mom more than my brother.” She described Nancy as their “shining light” and “matriarch,” highlighting her significance to the family.

FBI Investigation and Video Evidence Provide Clarity

The situation escalated when the FBI conducted a search at Annie Guthrie’s residence on February 7, which led to increased public speculation. However, authorities later clarified that this was a standard procedure in missing persons investigations. Savannah noted that a crucial piece of evidence that helped alleviate some public doubt was doorbell camera footage from outside Nancy’s home. This video reportedly captured a man with a black backpack near the residence around the time of her disappearance. “I’m glad and grateful… to stop the irresponsible and cruel speculation,” Savannah remarked, although she admitted that viewing the footage was profoundly unsettling. “It’s just absolutely terrifying… I can’t imagine that that is who she saw.” The investigation is still active, and no suspects have been named as the Guthrie family continues to seek answers.
