Sarfaraz Khan Makes IPL Comeback with Chennai Super Kings
Sarfaraz Khan's Return to IPL
Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan has been given a chance to re-enter the Indian Premier League (IPL) after being signed by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) during the IPL 2026 Auction held in Abu Dhabi on December 16.
After being released by the Delhi Capitals and remaining unsold in the previous auction, Sarfaraz did not participate in the last IPL season despite his strong domestic performances. Entering the auction with a base price of INR 75 lakh, he was anticipated to attract interest from various franchises. However, he went unsold in the initial bidding round, surprising many in the cricket community.
In a subsequent accelerated round, auctioneer Mallika Sagar announced Sarfaraz's name again, and CSK successfully bid for him at his base price, marking his return to the IPL.
Excitement for a Fresh Start
Following his acquisition by CSK, Sarfaraz Khan expressed immense joy and gratitude for the opportunity to join the team and return to the IPL. After initially going unsold, he feared a repeat of his previous fate, but CSK's late bid provided him with a new chance.
On Instagram, Sarfaraz thanked CSK for giving him a 'new life,' acknowledging their faith in him and the opportunity to revitalize his IPL career.
"Thank you so much, CSK for giving me a new life," he shared on his social media.
