Saransh was included in the squad following the withdrawal of spin-bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar due to a hamstring injury.

At 33 years old, Saransh Jain hails from Madhya Pradesh and is known for his left-handed batting and off-spin bowling. He received congratulatory messages and calls that confirmed the news shortly after he discovered it on social media. "I found out in the morning while at Ranjeet Hanuman Mandir, and as I got into the car to head to Gumasta Nagar Jain temple, the messages and calls started coming in," he recounted.

An Emotional Journey

Reflecting on his journey, Jain shared a challenging period when he contemplated leaving cricket due to his father's battle with cancer. His father's encouraging note, urging him to continue playing and promising recovery, serves as a constant source of motivation. "My father wrote that I should keep playing good cricket, and he would get better soon. That message will always inspire me," he said.

Father: The First Coach

Saransh credits his father as his first coach, who taught him the fundamentals of batting and bowling. Even until last year, his father would bowl to him. After his father's bypass surgery, Saransh transitioned his practice outdoors, supported by his father, brother, and friends Amit and Himanshu. "My father taught me how to hold the bat and ball. After his surgery, I told him to rest while I practiced outside with my brother and friends," he explained.

The two-match Test series is set to commence with the first Test at Galle International Cricket Stadium from August 15 to 19, followed by the second Test at Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo from August 23 to 27.
