Support for Democratic Movements

On Saturday, Sanjay Raut, a member of the Shiv Sena (UBT), expressed his support for the ongoing protests at Jantar Mantar, which are being led by social media activist Abhijit Dipke and members of the Cockroach People's Party. Raut emphasized that peaceful democratic movements spearheaded by the youth should be embraced rather than suppressed. During a press conference, he stated that if young individuals are expressing their anger against the government through peaceful means, it reflects the essence of democracy and deserves respect. He noted that peaceful protests at Jantar Mantar, especially those involving youth and led by a young leader, should be welcomed. This is democracy, and everyone has the right to express their opinions.

Government's Response to Protests

Raut accused the government of attempting to stifle the movement by deploying heavy police forces and restricting the movement of participants. He claimed that the government is trying to suppress this protest. A significant police presence has been reported, with youths arriving from various parts of the country allegedly being stopped at railway stations and airports. He stated, "I have been gathering information about these developments since morning." Questioning the government's apprehensions regarding the movement, Raut asked why the government fears the youth. He credited the awakening and courage shown by today's youth to those who inspire them.

Call for Accountability

Raut reiterated the demand for accountability concerning the alleged exam paper leak controversy, stating, "If Prime Minister Narendra Modi does not demand the resignation of the concerned minister, the government has no moral right to speak of clean governance or zero tolerance for corruption." He further emphasized the need for clear accountability in this matter. He asserted that their movement is being conducted through peaceful and democratic means, highlighting that this issue extends beyond just the education department or the paper leak; it is also a serious matter of law and order.
