Sanjay Raut's Letter to Donald Trump
Sanjay Raut, a member of the Shiv Sena (UBT), announced on Friday that he has sent a letter to U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the recent assembly election results in West Bengal, expressing his concerns about the democratic processes in the country. Speaking to reporters about his tweet directed at the President, Raut emphasized that it is his responsibility to bring the worries raised by opposition leaders to the attention of the international community.
Raut expressed skepticism about the authenticity of the news surrounding the election results. He questioned whether leaders like Trump, Macron, and Starmer would congratulate Prime Minister Modi if he wins the upcoming village council elections. He pointed out that while the U.S. is known as a major democratic nation, India is also recognized as such, and the global community is aware of the current state of democracy in India. He noted that prominent figures like Rahul Gandhi, Uddhav Thackeray, and Mamata Banerjee have repeatedly voiced their opinions on this matter.
He further stated, 'I believe it is my duty to correct President Donald Trump. The world should know what is happening in this country, particularly in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Assam under the guise of democracy.' Raut expressed doubt that Trump had read his tweet but insisted he fulfilled his obligation, claiming that BJP members are tarnishing Modi's image. Commenting on the political situation in Tamil Nadu, Raut accused the governor of acting in favor of the BJP and asserted that the largest party should be invited first to form the government.
Raut criticized the presence of BJP agents in the Raj Bhavan, referring to it as Lok Bhavan, and claimed that it undermines the sentiments and votes of the public. He insisted that the party with 108 members should be prioritized, as stipulated by the Constitution. Regarding West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Raut stated that opposition parties will support her in the 'fight to save democracy.' He affirmed that they will stand with Mamata in her struggle, mentioning that Uddhav Thackeray has already spoken with her. The fight to preserve democracy will continue across the nation, and they will all be part of it.
