Sanjay Raut, a member of the Shiv Sena (UBT), defended the opposition's stance regarding alleged irregularities in donations to the Ram Temple during a statement on Thursday. He emphasized that questioning the supposed theft of donations and valuables from the temple should not be interpreted as being anti-Ram. His remarks followed accusations from Kiren Rijiju, the Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, who claimed that the opposition's repeated references to this issue in Parliament amounted to opposing Lord Ram.
In response to these allegations, Raut stated that theft had indeed occurred at the Ram Temple. He questioned whether Lord Ram should be held accountable for this. He expressed frustration that raising concerns about the theft has led to accusations of being anti-Ram. He asked, 'What kind of Hindutva is this?' He pointed out that money was stolen, donation boxes were looted, and even jewelry, including Sita's mangalsutra, was reportedly taken. He asserted that by bringing these issues to light, they are being labeled as anti-Ram, while those responsible for the theft are being portrayed as devotees of Ram.
The opposition has been highlighting alleged discrepancies and misappropriations in the donations received for the Ram Temple, making it a significant topic during the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament. Addressing criticism from the BJP regarding Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's vocal support for student protests on July 20 at Jantar Mantar, while remaining silent on the student movements in Jharkhand, Raut dismissed these claims.
He stated, 'I do not believe that Rahul Gandhi is silent. I will never accept that he has been quiet on issues concerning people, students, or youth.' He noted that the local leadership is managing the movement in Jharkhand, where the Congress party is in power. He emphasized that the primary responsibility lies with those leading the grassroots movement. Raut mentioned that their leaders have already participated in the protests and visited the area. He added that they would go there if necessary, but it should be up to the students to decide if they want their presence. 'This is a free movement,' he concluded.
