Sanjay Raut Discusses Shiv Sena's Resilience
On Friday, Sanjay Raut, a member of the Shiv Sena (UBT), expressed confidence in the party's strength despite recent divisions. He emphasized that Aditya Thackeray possesses the capability to lead the party effectively. Raut suggested that the younger generation should gradually take on more responsibilities within the party. Party leader Uddhav Thackeray is set to visit constituencies represented by six MPs who recently defected to the rival faction led by Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Speaking to a news agency before this tour, Raut accused these MPs of switching sides for money, power, and security. He stated that the purpose of the tour is to directly communicate the party's stance to voters and workers in those areas.
When asked about Aditya Thackeray's role in the party, Raut reiterated the need for the next generation to assume greater responsibilities. He questioned how long they could continue working, noting their dedication over the past 40 years. He welcomed Aditya's leadership, asserting that he is capable and will officially take on more responsibilities.
Raut's Critique of Defectors
Raut argued that leaders who left Uddhav Thackeray's party are not true rebels. He contended that the term 'rebel' should be reserved for freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev, not for those who switch parties for financial gain. He claimed that the six MPs sold themselves for millions and insisted that the party's cadre remains loyal to Uddhav Thackeray. When questioned about the confidence displayed by these MPs, Raut challenged them to face the public. He remarked that after their tour, it would be evident how confident they truly are, especially when they receive Z-plus security after betrayal.
Raut on Accountability and Political Divisions
When asked why those who left the Shiv Sena (UBT) blamed him for their decisions, Raut responded that it was due to his loyalty to the party and the ideology of Balasaheb Thackeray. He mentioned that he had previously attempted to prevent Eknath Shinde and others from leaving the party, warning them that power is temporary and they should not betray Balasaheb's legacy. Raut further stated that political divisions often arise from greed and fear of investigative agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He concluded by challenging them, saying that if given just an hour with the ED and CBI, they would show their true colors.
