Concerns Over Shiv Sena (UBT) Future

On June 16, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam expressed concerns that the Shiv Sena (UBT) faction might cease to exist by 2029. He indicated that several MPs from this faction are reportedly considering joining the group led by Eknath Shinde. Discussing the 'Operation Tiger' issue, Nirupam noted a growing lack of trust among leaders and workers towards the UBT leadership. He stated that the UBT party is gradually fading away, with its MLAs and MPs losing faith in its leadership. According to him, the party will eventually dissolve as more individuals leave it.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Minister Ashish Jaiswal refrained from commenting directly on the developments within Shiv Sena (UBT). He mentioned that any decisions regarding the political future of the party's MPs should be discussed only after formal announcements are made. Jaiswal remarked that it would not be appropriate for him to comment on the ongoing situation within Shiv Sena (UBT). He suggested that if they believe that Balasaheb's legacy lies with Eknath Shinde, then discussions should occur only after decisions are made regarding their constituencies and political futures.

These statements come at a time when speculation regarding 'Operation Tiger' is rampant in Maharashtra. Reports suggest that seven out of nine members of the UBT faction are in contact with Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena and are contemplating joining him. On the same day, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut dismissed claims that five of their MPs might form a separate faction.

Raut labeled these claims as false and reiterated his support for party chief Uddhav Thackeray. During a press conference, he stated that there is no such information available. Just four days prior, all these MPs had participated in a meeting called by Uddhav Thackeray, expressing their confidence in his leadership. Some leaders even vowed to support Uddhav, swearing on their loved ones.
