Sachin Siwach Secures Semifinal Spot at Commonwealth Games 2026
Sachin Siwach Guarantees Medal for India
Indian boxer Sachin Siwach has successfully advanced to the semifinals in the men's 60kg category at the Commonwealth Games 2026. He achieved this milestone by defeating Botswana's Treasure Moremi through a unanimous decision in the quarterfinals held on Wednesday, ensuring India will take home at least one medal.
From the very start, Sachin showcased his skills, landing a strong left hook early in the first round and effectively controlling the match's tempo. Although there was a brief interruption due to Moremi's bandage coming loose near his right eye, Sachin remained focused and won the first round with unanimous support from all five judges.
Continuing his impressive performance, Sachin dominated the second round with rapid combinations and precise left hooks, making it challenging for Moremi to respond. The judges again awarded this round unanimously to Sachin.
As the final round approached, Sachin maintained his lead while Moremi struggled to gain any momentum. The Indian boxer finished the match confidently, securing a unanimous decision victory. Previously, Sachin had triumphed over Canada's Keoma Al-Ahmadieh and England's William Hewitt in earlier rounds. He is set to face Wales' Owain Harris-Allan in the semifinals on Friday, aiming for a spot in the gold medal match.
Other Indian Boxers Progress
On the same day, fellow Indian boxers Arundhati Choudhary and Sakshi Chaudhary also made their way into the semifinals. Arundhati reached the women's 70kg semifinals by defeating New Zealand's Morgan Henderson in her quarterfinal bout. Meanwhile, Sakshi advanced to the women's 51kg semifinals after a commanding unanimous 5-0 victory over Northern Ireland's Caitlyn Fryers.
