Commencing His Commonwealth Journey

Boxer Sachin Siwach, who is backed by the IIS, is gearing up to kick off his Commonwealth Games journey in Glasgow. This event marks another significant chapter in his career, which has seen him rise as one of India's top amateur boxers. Following a remarkable international breakthrough over the last two years, the 26-year-old enters the Games as a leading contender for a medal.

Historic Achievements

Siwach made headlines in 2025 by becoming the first Indian male boxer to clinch gold at the World Boxing Cup Finals. He has maintained his winning streak into 2026, securing gold at both the Grand Prix Usti nad Labem in the Czech Republic and the BOXAM Elite International Tournament in Spain, along with a silver medal at the Asian Boxing Championships.

The Pride of Representing India

As he prepares for this prestigious event, Siwach expresses that donning the national colors is his greatest source of motivation. He stated, "Representing India is always the biggest honour for me. Competing at the Commonwealth Games is a dream for every athlete. I've dedicated myself to this opportunity, and my aim is to perform my best in every match, making my country proud and leaving the ring knowing I've given my all."

Sharpening Skills for Success

With a consistent track record on the international stage, Siwach emphasizes that his training has focused on enhancing the nuances of his boxing technique. He remarked, "I've been working on improving my speed, timing, movement, and overall ring awareness. At this level, the differences are minimal, so maintaining discipline and executing the game plan in each fight is crucial. Our training has been productive, and I feel confident as I head into the competition."

Taking It One Fight at a Time

Recognizing the increasing competition in international boxing, Siwach is committed to approaching the tournament one match at a time. He noted, "Every opponent here is formidable, so I’m not looking too far ahead. My concentration is on each fight and performing to the best of my abilities. If I can remain calm, box to my strengths, and implement our strategies, I believe I can have a successful campaign."

Gratitude for IIS Support

Siwach also expressed his gratitude towards the Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS) for their significant role in his preparation for the Commonwealth Games. He stated, "IIS has been instrumental in my growth as a boxer. The coaching, sports science support, recovery facilities, and the overall high-performance environment have contributed to my daily improvement.
