The former Netherlands international communicated his decision to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) during the team's tour in the UK, where India faced setbacks in both the T20I and ODI formats. The team suffered a 4-0 defeat in the T20I series and a 2-1 loss in the ODI series. Reports indicate that ten Doeschate is poised to accept a coaching role with the IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Doeschate's Contributions to Team India

Ryan ten Doeschate, who previously captained the Netherlands, joined India's coaching staff after Gautam Gambhir took over as head coach, succeeding Rahul Dravid following India's victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Handpicked by Gambhir, Doeschate played a vital role in the support team, enhancing both batting and fielding strategies. His tenure included significant achievements, such as aiding the team in winning the 2025 Asia Cup and successfully defending their title in the 2026 Men's T20 World Cup. Return to Kolkata Knight Riders
