RSS Chief Advocates Technology for Social Welfare
Emphasizing Technology for the Greater Good
On Saturday, Mohan Bhagwat, the leader of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), emphasized the importance of utilizing technology for societal benefit while cautioning against becoming enslaved by it. During a discussion with young entrepreneurs, he highlighted that embracing indigenous practices does not equate to rejecting technology.
This dialogue was part of the celebrations marking the centenary year of the RSS. Bhagwat stated that while technology is essential and not inherently negative, it is crucial to avoid excessive dependence that could lead to it controlling our lives.
He further remarked that business and industry should not operate solely for profit. Bhagwat asserted that efforts should be directed not just for personal gain but also for the welfare of society. Earning a livelihood should go hand in hand with social responsibility.
Using agriculture as an example, he noted that Indian farmers often view farming not merely as a profession but as a duty. Bhagwat pointed out that such noble thoughts are rare elsewhere, reminding us that our work should be centered around society.
He concluded by stating that modern technology must be adapted to fit India's social and economic contexts, ensuring that it does not harm society or diminish employment opportunities.
