A Memorable Unveiling Ceremony

In a delightful and unforgettable moment following the emotional dedication of the 'Rohit Sharma Stand' at Wankhede Stadium, India's ODI captain humorously confronted his younger brother Vishal about a dent on their car.

Shortly after the significant event on Friday, where the Mumbai Cricket Association honored Rohit by naming a stand in his name at the iconic venue, a video emerged that had fans laughing.

The footage showed Rohit standing next to his brother by their family car, pointing at the dent and asking in his characteristic deadpan style, 'What is this?'

Caught off guard, Vishal sheepishly replied, 'Reverse.' Rohit quickly shot back, 'Whose? Yours?' This playful exchange sent social media into a frenzy, with many labeling it as 'peak big brother energy.'

This light-hearted interaction occurred just moments after a heartfelt public tribute to the Mumbai cricket legend, who described the honor as surreal while still actively playing for India.

Rohit's Emotional Tribute

"As a child aspiring to play for Mumbai and India, such honors were never on my mind. To have my name alongside the greats of the game and world leaders... words can't express my feelings," Rohit shared during the ceremony.

The event was attended by Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, various dignitaries, and Rohit's family, including his parents Gurunath and Poornima Sharma, wife Ritika Sajdeh, and brother Vishal. It was a rare moment to see Rohit visibly moved as he invited his family onto the stage for the grand unveiling.

Ritika, who has supported Rohit through every challenge, appeared emotional as confetti filled the stadium during the stand's reveal. Rohit expressed gratitude towards his family for their sacrifices and thanked the MCA and Apex Council for this recognition.

"Receiving this honor while still playing is truly special. I've retired from two formats, but I’ll be back here playing for MI against Delhi on the 21st. That will be a special feeling," he remarked.

With consecutive ICC titles, including the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 Champions Trophy, Rohit remains a pivotal figure in Indian cricket. Following this honor, the focus now shifts to IPL 2025 as MI aims for a playoff spot.
