Rohit Pawar Protests Outside CBI Headquarters Demanding Investigation into Plane Crash
Rohit Pawar's Symbolic Protest
On Friday, Rohit Pawar staged a symbolic protest outside the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) headquarters in Pune. He expressed his dissatisfaction over the lack of a CBI investigation into the plane crash that claimed the life of former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. This demonstration occurred four months after the incident, during which Pawar criticized the absence of a thorough investigation by any central agency.
Concerns Raised by the MLA
Speaking to reporters, the legislator emphasized that the protest aimed to highlight the inaction of investigative agencies. He questioned the effectiveness of officials who remain seated in air-conditioned offices if they are not conducting investigations. Pawar raised concerns about why the case had not been handed over to the CBI.
Call for Detailed Investigation
Rohit Pawar has consistently demanded a comprehensive investigation into the accident, suggesting a possible conspiracy involving the aircraft operator, VSR Ventures Private Limited. He also alleged that influential individuals are providing protection to the company. Earlier in April, Pawar met with Maharashtra CID officials, expressing his frustration over the lack of substantial progress in the investigation.
Allegations Against Officials
He further accused officials of hesitating to take action against VK Singh, the head of VSR Ventures, and mentioned their alleged connections with Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu. In March, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, referencing the issues raised by Rohit Pawar and calling for a timely, transparent, and thorough investigation into the crash. The letter highlighted several concerns, including the safety record of VSR Ventures, crew deployment standards, aircraft maintenance protocols, discrepancies in flight data, and potential regulatory violations.
