Manoj Kumar Jha's Strong Critique of RSS and BJP

On Thursday, RJD MP Manoj Kumar Jha launched a fierce critique against RSS leader Mohan Bhagwat and the BJP, accusing them of maintaining selective silence regarding incidents of violence and discrimination. He highlighted the recent murder of a student from Tripura in Uttarakhand as a glaring example of this issue. Jha questioned whose ideology Bhagwat represents and which political party draws inspiration from him, asserting that it is indeed the BJP.

Referring to the incident in Dehradun, Jha stated that a child from Tripura was recently murdered in his own state of Uttarakhand. He expressed that he had not heard a single statement from Bhagwat regarding this matter. Jha emphasized the blatant linguistic and racial discrimination that is currently rampant, noting that while such poison was being spread, Bhagwat remained silent. He remarked that this toxicity has now permeated every aspect of society. Jha's comments come amidst intense political reactions to Bhagwat's recent statements, as the RSS is addressing gatherings nationwide to commemorate its 100th anniversary.

Bhagwat has emphasized that Hindu gatherings should be viewed as moments of responsibility rather than mere displays of power. He has called for the elimination of discrimination, the promotion of social harmony, respect for linguistic diversity, and adherence to the Constitution. This controversy has intensified following the murder of 24-year-old MBA student Anjel Chakma from Tripura. On December 9, he was attacked by a group armed with knives and blunt objects in Dehradun, leading to his death during treatment.

In response to the incident, the Uttarakhand police have established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case. Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh reported that CCTV footage from the crime scene has been seized and is currently under analysis. So far, five suspects have been arrested, while the main accused, Yagya Raj Awasthi, remains at large. The police have announced a reward of ₹1 lakh for information leading to his capture.
