Rajasthan Royals' captain Riyan Parag shared that a recurring hamstring issue kept him from participating as an Impact Substitute during their recent match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Following RR's impressive seven-wicket victory, Parag explained his absence, stating, "I sustained a hamstring injury in the previous match against DC. Although I recovered, it flared up again during batting in the last game, which is why I couldn't play as an Impact player."

A Much-Needed Win

Reflecting on the crucial home win, Parag noted that the team finally delivered a more cohesive performance after previously showing glimpses of potential. He remarked, "A win was overdue. We played well, but not consistently throughout the match. Today, especially in our chase, we executed commendably. However, there are still areas for improvement, particularly in our bowling and fielding."

LSG Sets a Challenging Target

Earlier in the match, LSG set a daunting target of 220/5 after being invited to bat first. They achieved this with a strong opening partnership of 109 runs between Josh Inglis and Mitchell Marsh. Inglis scored 60 runs off 30 balls, while Marsh narrowly missed a century, finishing with 96 runs off 57 balls. Rishabh Pant contributed significantly as LSG surpassed the 200-run mark. For RR, Yash Raj Punja took two wickets, and Jofra Archer secured one.

Praise for Young Talent Sooryavanshi

Parag expressed admiration for 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, whose explosive 93 runs off 38 balls were pivotal in the Royals' successful chase. He stated, "This was his best innings. He started slowly at 5 off 10 balls but showed remarkable maturity by taking his time. His first big shot off Mayank Yadav was impressive, indicating his understanding of the game. In my opinion, this is the best innings I've seen from him in the last two years."

As the tournament progresses, Parag emphasized the importance of enhancing their bowling and overall game awareness. He concluded, "Our future preparations will focus on improving our strategies. While we successfully chased 220-230 runs, we could have limited LSG to 20-25 runs less with smarter bowling and quicker wicket assessment. Our goal is to develop throughout the tournament and improve our batting efficiency."
