During these protests, there were allegations of a fatality. Leaders of the Karni Sena have vowed not to support the BJP in upcoming local elections, swearing by their revered deities.

A Fragmented Yet Growing Movement

These events illustrate that anti-reservation sentiments are gaining momentum, attracting supporters both online and offline. However, the movement appears fragmented. In early 2027, elections are planned in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa, and Manipur, followed by voting in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh. In politically sensitive states like Uttar Pradesh, caste has historically been a key electoral factor. In the last elections, Rahul Gandhi's slogan 'As Many People, As Many Rights' and Akhilesh Yadav's efforts to form a backward, Dalit, and tribal (PDA) social coalition played significant roles in the campaign, which was reflected in the results.
