Delhi CM Praises Rishabh Pant's Achievement

On Tuesday, Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta extended her congratulations to wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant for achieving the milestone of being the fastest player to hit 100 sixes in Test cricket. In a post shared on X, she referred to Pant as a 'fearless match-winner.'

"A century of sixes for Rishabh Pant! @RishabhPant17 has smashed his way into the record books, becoming the fastest batter to 100 sixes in Test cricket. A spectacular achievement from a fearless match-winner. Wishing him many more towering sixes, memorable knocks, and match-winning moments for India!" the Chief Minister expressed.

Pant's Record-Breaking Feat

Rishabh Pant has made history as the first Indian batter to reach 100 sixes in Test cricket, becoming the fourth player overall to do so. He accomplished this feat during the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle, scoring 66 runs off 69 balls, which included eight fours and two sixes, achieving a strike rate exceeding 95.

With this achievement, Pant joins the ranks of New Zealand's Brendon McCullum (107 sixes) and England's Ben Stokes (138 sixes), while he is tied with Adam Gilchrist, who also has 100 sixes. Pant reached this milestone in just 4,918 balls, marking the fewest balls taken to achieve this record, surpassing Gilchrist's previous record of 6,578 balls. His average of 49.2 balls per six is the best among all players with a century of sixes.
