Rinku Singh Thanks UP CM for Regional Sports Officer Appointment

Indian cricketer Rinku Singh has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for his appointment as a Regional Sports Officer. In a video shared by the UP government, Rinku thanked the CM for the financial support and the new role. He looks forward to meeting the CM after IPL 2026. Rinku's rise to fame includes his remarkable performance in IPL 2023 and significant contributions to the Indian national team. Additionally, he has been named vice-captain of KKR for the upcoming season. The UP government continues to support athletes by prioritizing them in government jobs.
 

Gratitude Expressed to UP Chief Minister

Rinku Singh, the prominent Indian cricketer, has publicly thanked Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, for his recent appointment as a Regional Sports Officer. In a video shared on the official X handle of the Government of UP, Rinku expressed his heartfelt appreciation, stating, "I am truly thankful to Chief Minister @myogiadityanath ji for honoring me with ₹3 crore and entrusting me with the role of Regional Sports Officer."


Anticipation of Meeting the Chief Minister

The 27-year-old cricketer mentioned that due to his commitments with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), he was unable to meet the Chief Minister in person. He looks forward to meeting him after the IPL 2026 season concludes, where he plans to collect his official appointment letter.


Rinku Singh's Journey to Fame

Rinku gained fame for his remarkable performance against the Gujarat Titans during IPL 2023, where he hit five consecutive sixes in the final over, leading KKR to victory in a high-pressure chase of around 200 runs. His achievements include winning gold at the Asian Games, the Asia Cup, and most recently, the T20 World Cup with the Indian national team. As a dynamic finisher, Rinku has played a crucial role in several matches, accumulating 665 runs in 45 T20 internationals at an impressive average of 39.11 and a strike rate of 155.73, including three half-centuries. He has also participated in a few ODIs, claiming one wicket in T20Is and ODIs.


New Leadership Role with KKR

In addition to his new appointment, Rinku has been appointed as the vice-captain of KKR for the upcoming IPL 2026 season. He will support Ajinkya Rahane in this leadership position, taking over from Venkatesh Iyer, who was signed by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for ₹7 crore.


Support for Athletes from UP Government

During a recent event focused on distributing appointment letters and prize money to international medalists, CM Yogi highlighted Uttar Pradesh's pioneering initiative to prioritize athletes in government jobs. He stated, "Uttar Pradesh is the first state to prioritize athletes in government service. We have issued appointment letters to over 500 athletes for various police roles. Rinku Singh has been appointed as a Regional Sports Officer due to his outstanding performance in cricket and at the Asian Games."
