Saroha's Strong Start in U-16

After clinching the U-18 boys' singles title last week, top seed Ribhav Saroha kicked off his U-16 journey with a solid 6-4, 6-2 win against Raghav Sarode. Meanwhile, third seed Paranjay Siwach also advanced, defeating Bhavik with a score of 6-1, 6-1 at the Fenesta Open National Tennis Championships.

The U-16 and U-14 events commenced on Monday at the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association (DLTA) Complex, featuring the nation's top junior talents as they resumed competition in the second week of the national championship.

Saroha's Ambition for a Double Title

Saroha expressed satisfaction with his first-round performance but emphasized the importance of staying focused as he aims for a second title in consecutive weeks. "My confidence is high after winning the U-18s, and I feel good about my U-16 match as well. Raghav is a close friend, and while the first set was competitive, I managed to secure the second set comfortably," he stated.

He added, "I am putting in the effort to maintain my form for the U-16 title. The competition is tough at the Fenesta Open, and I cannot afford to take anything lightly."

Siwach's Commanding Performance

Paranjay Siwach showcased his skills with a dominant performance against Bhavik, winning in straight sets. Reflecting on his match, Siwach noted, "My opponent started strong, but I maintained my focus and found my rhythm to secure the win."

Weather Disruptions

Heavy rain in the morning caused significant delays, pushing play nearly four hours behind schedule. Organizers are planning to extend the playing day to compensate for the lost time, with additional matches scheduled for Tuesday.
