The annual Baisakhi Fair, which takes place on April 13 and 14 at Yol Bazaar, Dharamshala, is poised to regain its former vibrancy. Previously celebrated for its lively atmosphere, the fair had seen a decline in recent years. However, the newly established Trade Association Executive Committee is determined to restore its original charm.
According to Association President Sunny Bhatia and Vice President Raman Chaudhary, this year's fair will be a grand affair, thanks to the collaboration of local merchants. The market will be adorned with stalls stretching from Ghari Pul to Mankasah Gate, featuring amusement rides and a revival of traditional fair activities.
A key attraction will be the wrestling competition (Dangal), taking place near the Babri Temple, which continues the fair's rich legacy. To enhance the festive spirit, two traditional processions with drums and nagaras will march through the market on both days.
Additionally, a special feature will be the ‘Tamk’ stage located near the bus stand, where individuals can display their skills by playing traditional instruments.
The enthusiasm among traders is evident, as they aim to celebrate Baisakhi as a significant festival throughout the market. The community is hopeful that this historic fair will reclaim its identity and shine once more, becoming a cherished cultural landmark of Yol.
