Retired Army Officer Dies After SUV Collision in Jaipur

A retired army officer tragically died after being struck by a speeding SUV in Jaipur's Chitrakoot area. The incident occurred on Independence Day while he was cycling. The driver, identified as Surabhi Maheshwari, has been released on bail after her vehicle was seized and her license revoked. This incident has ignited local protests demanding stricter enforcement against reckless driving, as residents express concerns over safety in the area. The CCTV footage played a crucial role in identifying the vehicle and driver involved in this unfortunate event.
 

Tragic Incident in Jaipur

In a tragic event in the Chitrakoot area of Jaipur, a retired army officer was fatally struck by a speeding sports utility vehicle (SUV). The police reported the incident on Sunday.


Authorities revealed that the female driver involved in the accident has been released on bail, while her vehicle has been confiscated and her driving license revoked.


The collision occurred on Friday when 64-year-old Narsa Ram Jajda was cycling in the vicinity of his home in Maa Vaishnav Nagar on Independence Day. His son, who was out for a walk, found his father injured and, with the help of locals, rushed him to the hospital.


Unfortunately, Jajda succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at SMS Hospital. The incident was captured on CCTV, showing a car hitting a man in a white T-shirt before the driver fled the scene. The footage aided in identifying the SUV and its driver.


Police constable Kishan stated, 'An FIR has been filed at the accident police station regarding this matter. The SUV and its driver have been identified through the CCTV footage. The vehicle has been seized, and the license has been canceled.'


The accused has been identified as Surabhi Maheshwari, who was taken into custody and later released on bail. Following the incident, local residents expressed their anger and demanded stricter monitoring of reckless drivers.


Residents claim that the Gandhi Path area has become a hotspot for speeding vehicles. One local stated, 'We want speed breakers installed here before more lives are lost, and increased patrolling in the area.'
