Manjalpur By-Election Results to be Announced

Vadodara, August 2 - The results for the by-election held in Gujarat's Manjalpur assembly constituency will be revealed on Monday. While the outcome is unlikely to impact the standing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), it will be intriguing to see how effectively Congress can challenge the BJP's stronghold in Vadodara city. The counting of votes is set to commence at 8 AM, with extensive arrangements already in place.

The by-election took place on July 30, necessitated by the passing of senior BJP legislator and former Gujarat minister Yogesh Patel. Voter turnout for this election was recorded at only 37.5 percent.

Officials have confirmed that robust security measures have been implemented at the designated counting center. The BJP has fielded Satish Govindbhai Patel, a former municipal councilor, as their candidate, while Congress has opted for Bhikhabhai Rabari, the state unit's vice president and a former minister. In the 2022 Gujarat assembly elections, this constituency saw a voter turnout of 60.15 percent.
