Residents Demand Urgent Repairs for Deteriorating Road in Kangra

Community Voices Concerns Over Neglected Road Conditions

Residents of Ichhi–Gangbhairo, located within the Kangra Assembly area, have expressed their frustration towards the Public Works Department (PWD) for its failure to address the poor condition of their road. Locals claim that the department's approach consists of merely dumping soil, which quickly turns into mud during the rainy season, rendering the road unusable.

Community members, including Vikas Lihan, Kabish Mongra, Kapil Mongra, Joginder Singh, Kamal Kapoor, Naveen Mongra, and Keshav Mongra, have reported that despite numerous complaints directed at the PWD office, no substantial repairs have been made.

Vikas Lihan remarked, “When it rains, children are unable to attend school, and the elderly find it difficult to leave their homes.” Kabish Mongra further noted, “The state of the road from Ichhi to Gangbhairo is so poor that ambulances refuse to come. Patients often have to be carried on shoulders.”

The villagers are urging both the government and the PWD to cease the temporary fixes and instead focus on permanent repairs and concrete construction of the road to guarantee safe and dependable access.
