Remo Fernandes Bids Farewell to Live Performances

New Delhi, August 5 – Celebrated singer and composer Remo Fernandes, known for his hit song 'Hamma Hamma', revealed during a concert in London that he will be stepping back from live performances. He shared that his health has been impacted by a mild stroke and vertigo, making it difficult for him to play the guitar and flute as he once did. In an emotional speech prior to his hour-long performance earlier this week, Fernandes explained why he now needs to sit while performing.

Addressing the audience at Cranford Community College in Hounslow, Fernandes stated, “It’s no longer feasible for me to perform while standing. Therefore, I have decided to stop live performances and conclude my journey here.” He elaborated, “A few years ago, after receiving the third dose of the COVID vaccine, I experienced a mild stroke. This incident caused some issues with my fingers.”

He continued, “As a result, playing the guitar and flute has become quite challenging, and it’s not the same as it used to be. Last year, I also developed vertigo, which led to a severe fall and required surgery on my skull.” Fernandes mentioned that his doctor advised him against performing while standing, prompting his decision to end his career as a live performer.

Fernandes is renowned for creating a unique musical style that blends Goan, Portuguese, rock, pop, Latin, reggae, and world music. Born on May 8, 1953, in Goa, he initially studied architecture at Sir JJ College of Architecture in Mumbai before pursuing a full-time career in music.
