Vinod Kumar Shukla, a celebrated Hindi author and recipient of the Jnanpith Award, has passed away at the age of 89. He took his last breath at approximately 4:58 PM today at AIIMS in Raipur. Just last month, on November 1, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a conversation with Shukla, inquiring about his health. Following the news of his demise, Prime Minister Modi expressed his sorrow on social media, stating that he was deeply saddened by the loss of the esteemed writer. He acknowledged Shukla's invaluable contributions to Hindi literature, which will always be remembered. Modi extended his condolences to Shukla's family and fans, wishing them peace during this difficult time.

In 2024, Shukla was honored with the 59th Jnanpith Award, making him the first author from Chhattisgarh to receive this prestigious literary accolade. He is survived by his wife, a son named Shashwat, and a daughter. Shashwat shared that his father had been hospitalized in October but was discharged after showing signs of improvement.

Shukla was renowned for his simple yet surreal prose style and straightforward poetry, which beautifully blended restraint with original imagination.
