Other areas in the city also recorded extremely high temperatures. The Ridge area saw temperatures soar to 44.4 degrees Celsius, while Palam, Lodhi Road, and Ayanagar all reported temperatures above 43 degrees Celsius. The weather department had already issued forecasts for rain and strong winds in parts of Delhi-NCR, warning of changes in weather due to pre-monsoon activities.
The sudden rain on Saturday provided immediate relief to travelers and residents who had been enduring prolonged heatwave conditions.
Increased Likelihood of Pre-Monsoon Activities
Weather experts suggest that these changes in weather may signal the onset of pre-monsoon activities in northern India. According to Mahesh Palawat from Skymet Weather, there is a possibility of intensified pre-monsoon activities starting in early June, which could help alleviate the heat in the coming days. Given the forecast of continued cloud cover and intermittent rain, residents of Delhi may finally find some respite from the intense heat.
