Recruitment of 24,752 Contractual Sanitation Workers for Clean and Empowered Urban Local Bodies

Jaipur. In alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for a Clean India, the state government is actively working to enhance the sanitation systems within urban local bodies. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and the guidance of Minister for Autonomous Governance, Jhabar Singh Khara, this recruitment of 24,752 contractual sanitation workers aims to strengthen urban cleanliness efforts and contribute to the objectives of the Clean India Mission.
According to directives from the Department of Autonomous Governance, interested and eligible candidates can apply online from August 15 until 11:59 PM on September 28. Detailed advertisements, information on vacancies by local body, application procedures, and other guidelines are available on the departmental website.
The recruitment will be conducted in accordance with the Rajasthan Contractual Hiring to Civil Posts Rules, 2022, and its amendments. Candidates must be native residents of Rajasthan. No specific educational qualifications are required for the position of contractual sanitation worker. Applicants should be between 21 and 40 years of age as of January 1, 2027, with age relaxation applicable for reserved categories.
To be eligible for recruitment, candidates must have at least one year of experience in sanitation work within any urban local body in the state. This experience can be continuous or accumulated over different periods. Experience certificates must be issued in the prescribed format by the relevant urban body or authorized institution.
The department has clarified that experience certificates must be issued after August 1, 2026, and before the application deadline. Certificates issued prior to this date will not be accepted. Candidates are also advised to ensure their Aadhaar cards are updated before applying.
Each candidate can apply to only one urban local body. Applications submitted to multiple bodies will be automatically canceled.
Selection for the contractual sanitation worker positions will be conducted through a lottery system developed by the Information Technology and Communication Department of the Rajasthan government. Candidates with one year of experience in the respective urban local body will be given priority. If positions remain unfilled, candidates with experience from other urban local bodies in the district and subsequently from other areas in the state will be included in the lottery process.
The state government has also provided long-term job security for selected contractual sanitation workers. Following satisfactory service, an evaluation will be conducted as per the established process, and successful candidates will be regularized accordingly.
The department has also stated that any previous court orders from the Rajasthan High Court regarding earlier recruitment processes for sanitation workers, which grant priority or regularization to petitioners, will be honored, provided the candidates apply to the same urban local body.
The Department of Autonomous Governance urges eligible candidates to apply online within the specified timeframe and to ensure the validity of all necessary documents, Aadhaar, and experience certificates before submitting their applications.
