New Delhi, April 2: The financial year 2025-26 has seen India's defence exports soar to an unprecedented ₹38,424 crore, reflecting a remarkable growth of over 62% compared to the previous year, as announced by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday.
Singh highlighted that this significant increase in defence exports underscores the rising global confidence in India's homegrown defence capabilities, stating that the nation is crafting a compelling narrative of success in defence exports.
According to the Defence Minister, "India's defence exports have reached a record ₹38,424 crore in FY 2025-26, marking a substantial growth of 62.66% from the last fiscal year."
He further elaborated that the increase of ₹14,802 crore in defence exports signifies the growing international trust in India's indigenous manufacturing prowess and capabilities.
With Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) contributing 54.84% and the private sector 45.16%, this achievement highlights the strength of a collaborative and self-sufficient defence ecosystem.
In the previous fiscal year, 2024-25, defence exports stood at ₹23,622 crore, while in 2023-24, they were ₹21,083 crore.
The Defence Ministry has termed the defence exports of 2025-26 as a "landmark milestone."
"India is not only a successful global partner for various systems and sub-systems but is also exporting defence equipment to over 80 nations as of FY 2025-26. The number of exporters has risen to 145 from 128, marking a 13.3% increase from the last fiscal year," the Ministry stated.
This record figure indicates a threefold increase in defence exports over the past five years.
The Ministry attributed this success to the government's ongoing efforts to enhance the ease of doing business and support defence exporters, which have fostered a performance-driven and globally competitive defence industry.
To aid defence exporters in this growth journey, the Department of Defence Production has revamped the defence export regulatory framework, introducing a new online portal and simplifying the standard operating procedures for authorizations.
