This month tied with July 2023 as the hottest month ever recorded.

In Europe, the average temperature for August reached 20.26°C, which is 1.10°C above the norm. Countries such as France, Italy, Hungary, Romania, and various regions in the Balkans experienced temperatures that were approximately 3 to 5°C higher than usual. The weather from June to August in Western Europe was noted as the hottest on record.
The persistent heat and lack of rainfall exacerbated drought conditions in many parts of Europe.
