RCB's Strategic Win Over LSG

Jitesh Sharma, the wicketkeeper-batter for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), emphasized the team's strategic planning and aggressive batting approach following their five-wicket victory against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL 2026 on Wednesday. With this win, RCB secured the top position on the points table, achieving four victories out of five matches after successfully chasing down a target of 147 runs at M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Understanding Home Conditions

In a post-match press conference, Jitesh attributed their success to the team's comprehension of home conditions. He stated, "This year, we are very smart about the wicket. We are adjusting to it tactically, which is why we are winning all our home games. It reflects our efficient and intelligent approach."

Virat Kohli's Significant Contribution

Although Virat Kohli was absent from the starting lineup due to an injury sustained in the previous match, he made a notable impact as an Impact Player. Coming in when RCB needed 147 runs, he scored 49 runs off 34 balls, including six fours and a six. Kohli currently leads the tournament with 228 runs and holds the Orange Cap. Jitesh explained, "He had a minor injury in the last match, but now he is fully fit. We wanted to avoid putting pressure on him, which is why he rested."

RCB's Aggressive Batting Philosophy

Jitesh articulated RCB's batting philosophy for this season, which revolves around relentless aggression. He remarked, "Our mindset is to dominate the bowlers. Regardless of the situation, we have decided how we want to approach the game, and it’s clear that we aim to attack all bowlers and teams."

Praise for Young Bowler Rasikh Salam Dar

The seasoned batter also praised young pacer Rasikh Salam Dar, who delivered a match-winning performance with four wickets. Jitesh noted, "He has always had the skills, but now he knows how to utilize them effectively. With good mentorship and practice, he has sharpened his abilities, especially his Yorkers and slower deliveries, which are crucial in high-pressure situations."

Josh Hazlewood's Improved Performance

Jitesh commented on the enhanced performance of fast bowler Josh Hazlewood, who took one wicket while conceding only 20 runs in his four overs. He stated, "Josh looks sharper and fitter now. He has worked hard on his recovery and is more confident in his abilities than last year."

Jitesh's Team-Centric Mindset

Reflecting on his own performance, Jitesh stressed his commitment to the team's success. He said, "I’m never satisfied with my batting. My focus is always on contributing to the team's victory, regardless of my personal performance. Whether I face two balls or twenty, my goal is to give my all for the team."
