RCB's Jitesh Sharma Emphasizes Team Preparation Ahead of IPL Clash with CSK
RCB Prepares for IPL Showdown
Jitesh Sharma, the wicket-keeper batter and vice-captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), stated that the team is concentrating on its own strengths and preparations rather than focusing on their opponents. This comes ahead of their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) scheduled for April 5 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. As the defending champions, RCB will be looking to build on their recent six-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in their opening match.
Prioritizing Their Own Process
During a pre-match press conference, Sharma highlighted RCB's strategy against CSK, stating, "Our focus is solely on our own preparation and process, rather than what they have done recently. We are committed to our own preparation, and that’s our primary concern."
Taking It One Game at a Time
RCB has a favorable record against CSK, having won their last three encounters. However, Sharma emphasized the importance of focusing on each game individually. He remarked, "I learned about our 3-0 record against them after arriving here. As a team, we concentrate on one match at a time instead of dwelling on past performances. Our aim is to identify our strengths and their weaknesses."
The Role of Vice-Captaincy
Sharma expressed that serving as vice-captain is a significant honor that inspires him to contribute more to the team's success. He stated, "Receiving this responsibility makes me feel grateful and privileged. I strive to put in extra effort to help the team win. Being in a leadership role adds a layer of responsibility to my contributions."
