Rajat Patidar's explosive 93 runs off 33 balls played a pivotal role in RCB's victory, propelling them to their fifth IPL final. Glenn Phillips praised Patidar's fearless batting style, highlighting his leadership qualities. Despite a valiant effort from Rahul Tewatia, GT struggled in their chase, ultimately bowled out for 162 runs. This win solidifies RCB's position as a formidable contender in the tournament.

In a thrilling encounter during the IPL 2026 season, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) triumphed over Gujarat Titans (GT) by a significant margin of 92 runs. This victory was largely attributed to Rajat Patidar's outstanding performance, where he scored an unbeaten 93 runs off just 33 balls, leading RCB to the final.


Patidar's Stellar Performance

Rajat Patidar, who captained RCB, was awarded the Player of the Match for his explosive innings, which included nine sixes and five fours. Coming to bat at a crucial moment when RCB was at 93-1 in 8.2 overs, he formed a vital 95-run partnership with Krunal Pandya, who contributed 43 runs, and a 40-run partnership with Jitesh Sharma, who scored 15 runs. RCB finished their innings at a formidable total of 254/5.


Glenn Phillips Commends Patidar

After the match, Glenn Phillips praised Patidar's fearless batting style, emphasizing his ability to maintain an aggressive approach regardless of the game's circumstances. Phillips noted that Patidar exemplifies leadership as a captain and showcased his strengths effectively during the match.


"He is undoubtedly a remarkable player, and when he is in form, it doesn't matter what others are doing. He strikes the ball cleanly and knows his strengths well. As captain, he plays in a manner that inspires his teammates," Phillips remarked.


Gujarat Titans Struggle in Chase

In their pursuit of 255 runs, the Gujarat Titans faltered, managing only 162 runs. Rahul Tewatia was the standout performer for GT, scoring 68 runs off 43 balls, while Jos Buttler added 29 runs from 11 balls. The RCB bowlers, particularly Jacob Duffy with figures of 3/39 and Bhuvneshwar Kumar at 2/28, dismantled GT's batting order early on.


RCB's Historic Final Appearance

This victory marks RCB's fifth appearance in the IPL finals, placing them third in the all-time rankings, following Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.
