Ranchi Police Clash with JPSC-JSSC Protesters Amid Assembly March

In Ranchi, police used batons and water cannons to disperse students protesting for the JPSC-JSSC exams as they approached the assembly. The demonstrators, preparing for the JPSC-JSSC exams, urged fellow students to maintain unity and ensure that the assembly march scheduled for Monday remains peaceful. The police in Ranchi are fully prepared for the assembly march; SP Paras Rana assured the protesting students that no action would be taken against them if the demonstration remained peaceful.

 

Vikram Kumar, a student injured during the police baton charge, expressed his discontent, stating, 'Hemant Soren, you should not have done this. We were protesting peacefully without any abusive language. Suddenly, the police charged at us. This is unacceptable.' Another student reported that the police used excessive force, striking not just below the waist but also targeting heads, arms, and faces, revealing the government's double standards.

 

As the protesters reached the seventh and final barricade, police initiated water cannon action. In response, students began dancing in the water, chanting for more. Student leader Devendra Nath Mahto remarked that despite feeling unwell, he could not hold back when the government erected sharp barricades. 'Is this the border of Pakistan, Bangladesh, or China? These are students,' he stated. Reports indicate that the protesting students managed to break through police barricades while marching towards the Jharkhand assembly. Initially halted near 'Old Assembly Chowk,' they pushed past the barricades. Police and security personnel were deployed along the route, with water cannons and riot control vehicles stationed nearby. Volunteers leading the march are urging protesters to maintain peace.

 

Despite tight security measures, the protesters have advanced closer to the Jharkhand assembly. The assembly's monsoon session is currently underway. Even with the police's barricades and water cannons, the protesters continued to approach the assembly. Security forces have deployed water cannons to prevent students from marching towards the Jharkhand assembly.
